I did the layout of the trails so any comments to improve them will be appreciated and the trails deffinately ride better in drier conditions.

Well, an enjoyable ride, but I would not say a very challenging ride. Its just nice...nice scenery, a slight hum of the N2, its really like "farm riding" as opposed to "Mountain biking". Some technical skills needed for the nasty A frames that take you over river beds and fences - your pedals MUST be level as you go over the apex - trust me! Some racey dug-outs that give you the feeling of a bobsled run.

On a wet day you;ll have plenty tyre clinging mud as you cross cow pastures and sloping fields.

Total bonus is loo and shower at the end, you can leave Oak Valley to enjoy a coffee and meal at Peregrine Farm stall in a dignified fashion, not mud slung and grease faced :)

I'll go back there with my mum for another ride....not top of my list.

ahh.. the best thing to do is purchase some second hand gear less than 2/3 years old.

Usually go for a BOW kite - stay AWAY from C-shaped kites - they kill newbie's.

70-80kg - 9m2
80-90kg - 10/11m2
90-100kg - 12m2

This will get you running in winds from 14 to 20 knots. These kites can all be depowered by changing the settings rather easily so only use the above as a guide.

And last but certainly least: Get some lessons by an IKO certified instructor. (THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT)

I'd love to start kite surfing. I'm surfing, but a lot of times in Cape Town the wind spoils my efforts so I end up with a failed mission :( I reckon if you surf and kite surf you're covered for 90% of times.

The only problem is it is so damn expensive to start. Lessons don't come cheap and equipment is hectic! I'll have to save for many months more :(

As a matter of interest, (and if you don't mind saying) what did you pay for the new kite?
